In 2020, Horn revealed that her father Gregory Horn came out as a trans woman in 2005. She{{Efn|This article uses she/her pronouns for consistency.| name=pronouns|group=lower-alpha}} has since changed her name to Susan and uses she/her pronouns.{{cite web |title=My daughter Michelle and I have come a long way. I love her so much. She posted this today...❤❤❤: Representation matters! It can shape how minorities are viewed by society and how they view themselves. When my father came out as Trans almost 15 years ago there was hardly any representation of trans people in film and television, let alone positive representation. I felt that I had to keep this huge part of my life a secret because no one would understand. I was afraid people would laugh or judge not just my dad, but me. I was terrified for years that my dad would be hurt or even killed for just living his truth. It wasn't until Caitlyn Jenner shared her story that I felt safe enough to speak up because I knew I wasn't alone. Whether you are a POC, part of the LGBTQ community, or have a disability you deserve to be seen and heard always. |url=https://www.facebook.com/suzy.horn/posts/pfbid0DeYUfWwn3nNyy4f7BHVkWkdtYpwqysdqiiNNXzDjgJa4rpaPr76YwRh7qUXDRtdCl |website=facebook.com |publisher=Susan Kleinheksel-Horn}}{{cite web |title=Some thought from me and my wife on being trangender: There is something I have wanted to say for a while, but I have been reluctant because I know it will be misunderstood. Having said that, I am going to say it anyway. For those that don't know me well, my transition began 20 years ago, and I have been living fully as Susan for almost 15 years. I have gone through all the legal and physical changes one can go through. There is no doubt that it has been a difficult journey. FB has allowed me to observe others in various stages of the process, and that coupled with my own experiences have led me to make some observations I feel compelled to share.
