Michael John Twomey (25 September 1931 – 14 December 2015) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

At {{convert|185|cm|ftin}} in height, Collingwood's Mick Twomey was taller than his brothers Bill and Pat. Recruited from Yarra Valley,[https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/206075059/19600514 Fourth Twomey Gets Permit for Collingwood, The Age, (Thursday, 21 April 1949), p.12.] he played most of his 157 VFL games between 1951 and 1961 as a ruckman. In fact he was short for a ruckman; but he had remarkable spring, and newspapers often carried photos of him seeming to soar over opponents.See for instance the photo in his [http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/collingwood-premiership-player-mick-twomey-dies-at-84-20151216-glp96n.html obituary] in the Melbourne Age. See also the comments in his [http://australianfootball.com/players/player/mick%2Btwomey/8006 profile] at AustralianFootball.com In the 1958 VFL Grand Final, for instance, the [http://www.itvideo.me/watch/?v=unYyw5rElGQ highlights footage] from Channel 7 shows him contesting ruck hit-outs and marks with opposing ruckmen who were 11 cm and 13 cm taller.See the players' height statistics from this game for the Melbourne ruckmen Dick Fenton-Smith and Bob Johnson.

Over the course of his 10-year career Twomey was a member of five Collingwood Grand Final teams, enjoying premiership success in 1953 and 1958. He died in 2015.{{cite news|url=http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/collingwood-premiership-player-mick-twomey-dies-at-84-20151216-glp96n.html|title=Collingwood premiership player Mick Twomey dies at 84|date=16 December 2015|work=The Age|accessdate=16 December 2015}}
