History
It is believed that the name of the cake was taken from the product warehouse in Baku, which was built in traditional Eastern style by the son of a renowned businessmen Haji Bek Karimov after his trip to China and Japan. As a lot of Armenians lived in Baku, the name was soon repurposed for a cake, and the dessert itself is now eaten primarily in Armenia.{{Cite web |title=Язык проглотить: как пекут нежнейший армянский «Микадо», которым угощают в Нахичевани |url=https://rostovgazeta.ru/news/2024-01-01/yazyk-proglotit-kak-pekut-nezhneyshiy-armyanskiy-mikado-kotorym-ugoschayut-v-nahichevani-3143585 |access-date=2024-09-07 |website=rostovgazeta.ru |language=ru}}
