Career
Kudo was selected out of Akita Prefectural Honjō High School as the second overall pick in the 1978 NPB draft,{{Cite web|url=https://www.nikkansports.com/baseball/professional/draft/history/history1978.html|title=過去のドラフト 第14回(1978年) - ドラフト会議 : 日刊スポーツ|website=nikkansports.com}} and made his professional debut that season, becoming the fastest player to ever make his Japanese professional debut.
