The Milan Triennial XI was the Triennial in Milan of 1957 sanctioned by the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE).{{cite web|url=https://www.bie-paris.org/site/en/1957-triennale-di-milano|accessdate=8 December 2018|title=Triennale di Milano 1957}} Its theme was Improving the Quality of Expression in Today’s Civilisation.

There was a survey of sculpture of the previous 50 years, showing works by Umberto Boccioni, Constantin Brâncuși, Alexander Calder, Arturo Martini, Henri Matisse, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Auguste Rodin.

Gillo Dorfles, Leonardo Ricci, Luigi Rosselli and Marco Zanuso organised an industrial product exhibition. And {{interlanguage link|Agnoldomenico Pica|it}} an architecture section.

Timo Sarpaneva won 2 Grand Prix, Kaj Franck, Dora Jung and Kyllikki Salmenhaara{{cite book |title=Kuka Kukin On (Who's Who) |date=1978 |publisher=Otava |location=Helsinki |page=848 |url=https://runeberg.org/kuka/1978/0848.html |access-date=12 August 2023 |language=fi}} one each.

Antti Nurmesniemi, Yki Nummi, Ilmari Tapiovaara, Vuokko Eskolin, Bertel Gardberg{{cite web|url=https://jonasforth.com/the-golden-age-of-finnish-design-at-the-triennales/|accessdate=18 December 2018|title=The golden age of Finnish design at the Triennales - Forthzine - Jonas Forth .}}

and Sori Yanagi won gold medals, Yanagi's for his butterfly stool.

Saara Hopea won a silver medal for her flamingo liqueur glasswork.
