History
A post office called Millwood was established in 1842, and remained in operation until 1903.{{cite web | url=http://www.postalhistory.com/postoffices.asp?task=display&state=MO&county=Lincoln | title=Post Offices| publisher=Jim Forte Postal History | accessdate=26 October 2016}} The community was named after William Millward, a congressman from Pennsylvania (a postal error accounts for the error in spelling, which was never corrected).{{cite web|url=http://shsmo.org/manuscripts/ramsay/ramsay_lincoln.html |title=Lincoln County Place Names, 1928–1945 (archived) |publisher=The State Historical Society of Missouri |accessdate=26 October 2016 |url-status=bot: unknown |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160624071039/http://shsmo.org/manuscripts/ramsay/ramsay_lincoln.html |archivedate=24 June 2016 }}
