The Minghu Dam ({{zh|t=明湖水壩|p=Mínghú Shuǐbà}}, renamed the Takuan Dam,{{cite web |title=Hydropower Good Practices: Environmental Mitigation Measures and Benefits Case Study 05-06: Water Quality – Mingtan Pumped Storage, Taiwan |url=http://www.ieahydro.org/reports/Annex_VIII_CaseStudy0506_Mingtan_Taiwan.pdf |work=IEA Hydropower Implementing Agreement Annex VIII |publisher=IEA Hydro |accessdate=7 May 2013 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120320034527/http://www.ieahydro.org/reports/Annex_VIII_CaseStudy0506_Mingtan_Taiwan.pdf |archive-date=20 March 2012 |url-status=dead }} is a concrete gravity dam on the Shuili River located {{Convert|7|km|abbr=on}} north of Shuili Township in Nantou County, Taiwan. The reservoir formed by the dam serves as the lower reservoir for the Minhu Pumped Storage Hydro Power Station. Sun Moon Lake serves as the upper reservoir.

The dam and the power plant was constructed in 1980 and opened on 1 August 1985.{{cite web | url=http://www.energystorageexchange.org/projects/445 | title=Energy Storage Exchange }} Upon completion, it became Taiwan's first pumped-storage hydroelectricity power plant.{{Cite web|url=http://www.temes.com.tw/e_temes/content/feat/feat_02_3.aspx|title=Main Achievements-TAIWAN ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. Takuan Power Plant

The pumped-storage hydroelectricity power plant, officially named Takuan Power Plant, which sits near the left abutment of the dam and moves water between the two reservoirs to generate electricity. During periods of low demand, such as at night, when electricity is cheap, water is pumped to Sun Moon Lake. When energy demand is high, water is released down to the power station for power generation. This is accomplished by four {{convert|252|MW}} Francis pump-turbine-generators which are reversible and serve to both pump water and generate electricity. The power plant has an installed capacity of {{convert|1008|MW}}.{{cite web |title=Main Achievement |url=http://www.temes.com.tw/Item03_EN.htm|publisher=Taiwan Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Services, Inc. |accessdate=21 January 2012}}{{cite web |title=Minghu Pumped Storage Project |url=http://www.bes.com.tw/eng/product/detailed.asp?PRODUCT_ID=2456 |publisher=BES Engineering Corporation |accessdate=21 January 2012 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20070910103808/http://www.bes.com.tw/eng/product/detailed.asp?PRODUCT_ID=2456 |archivedate=10 September 2007 }}
