The Ministry of Forests and Environment ({{langx|ne|वन तथा वातावरण मन्त्रालय}}) is a governmental body of Nepal responsible for the conservation of forests and managing the environment in the country.{{cite web|title=Ministry of Forests and Environment|url=http://www.mfsc.gov.np|publisher=Government of Nepal|accessdate=28 March 2018}} Its main purposes are to enhance sustainable growth of the forest and water sectors and to manage the biodiversity, flora and fauna and also to increase the development of forest related enterprises in order to combat poverty throughout the rural areas of Nepal.{{cite web|title=Objectives|url=http://www.mfsc.gov.np/content.php?id=244|publisher=Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation|accessdate=26 October 2017|language=Nepali}}
History
Throughout its history, the ministry had several different names and portfolios. Under the Koirala cabinet{{cite web|title=Meet the new cabinet of ministers|url=http://www.nepalitimes.com/blogs/thebrief/2014/02/25/meet-the-new-cabinet-of-ministers/|publisher=Nepali Times|accessdate=1 October 2017}} and the first Oli cabinet, it was the Ministry of Forests.
