History
State Highway 30 was established in 1933, originally running from Highway 15 to Rushford. It replaced former State Highway 41 from Blooming Prairie to Hayfield. The road was completely gravel at this time except where it overlapped other highways.{{cite map|title=1933 Map of Trunk Highway System, State of Minnesota |date=April 1, 1933 |publisher=Minnesota Highway Department |cartography=McGill-Warner Co. |section=H-22 through Q-22 |url=http://cdm16022.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/mdt/id/225/rec/14 |accessdate=December 2, 2018}}{{cite map |title=1934 Map of Trunk Highway System, State of Minnesota |date=May 1, 1934 |publisher=Minnesota Highway Department |cartography=McGill-Warner Co. |section=H-22 through Q-22 |url=http://cdm16022.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/mdt/id/210/rec/15 |accessdate=December 2, 2018}}
By 1946, the road was still unpaved except for short sections in and near some towns.{{cite map |title=1946 Official Road Map of Minnesota |date=May 1, 1946 |publisher=Minnesota Department of Highways |section=H-22 through Q-22 |url=http://cdm16022.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/compoundobject/collection/mdt/id/237/rec/26 |accessdate=December 2, 2018}} The first extended paving was done from Cummingsville to Rushford in 1948 and 1949.{{cite web |url=http://www.dot.state.mn.us/roadway/data/docs/projlog/county55/5505.pdf |title=Construction Project Log Record: Control Section 5505 |publisher=Minnesota Department of Transportation |accessdate=December 2, 2018}}{{cite web |url=http://www.dot.state.mn.us/roadway/data/docs/projlog/county23/2305.pdf |title=Construction Project Log Record: Control Section 2305 |publisher=Minnesota Department of Transportation |accessdate=December 2, 2018}} The remainder of the highway was paved throughout the 1950s; by 1960 it was fully paved.{{Cite map |title=1960 Official Road Map, Minnesota |year=1960 |publisher=Minnesota Department of Highways |cartography=The H.M. In 1961, Highway 30 was extended westward, along the route of what had previously been State Highway 47. (This highway number was simultaneously re-used on another highway in east-central Minnesota.) There are plans to reroute the highway into the City of Rochester to better serve the Rochester International Airport and improve conditions on U.S. 63.{{citation |url=https://www.co.olmsted.mn.us/planning/trnsprtnplng/th63riastudy/Documents/Study%202/Study2Final.pdf |title=Rochester International Airport Sub Area Transportation Study and TH 63 South Corridor Transportation Plan; Study Report #2 |date=May 2010 |publisher=SRF Consulting Group |location=Minneapolis |accessdate=December 1, 2018}}
