Mir Ershad Ali is a two-star officer in Bangladesh Navy, currently serving as Commander of Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT). Military career

Ali commanded one warship, two patrol crafts, the Bangladesh naval fleet and currently commanding the Chittagong naval area. At naval headquarters he was the director of naval intelligence, naval training and operations, and furthermore director of multinational operations. Ali also served as naval secretary at Indian Ocean Naval Symposium.{{Cite web |title=Contact Us {{!}} Indian Ocean Naval Symposium |url=http://www.ions.global/contact-us |access-date=2022-08-18 |website=www.ions.global}} As commodore he commanded the western flotilla of Bangladesh Navy as the commander flotilla west (COMFLOT West). On 25 January 2022, Ali was ameliorated to rear admiral and appointed as the chairman of Mongla port authority but left soon after at motion of no confidence by the Ministry of Shipping. He was designated as the director general of Bangladesh Coast Guard on 30 January 2024 at Fifth Hasina ministry. Ali married to Sharmin Chowdhury and has 2 sons.
