Mladá fronta Dnes is owned by Mafra a.s., a subsidiary of the Agrofert group, a company owned by the former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. Mafra was previously the Czech subsidiary of the German group Rheinisch-Bergische Druckerei - und Verlagsgesellschaft GmbH,{{cite news|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4068647.stm|title=The press in the Czech Republic|website=BBC News|publisher=BBC|date=10 December 2005|access-date=13 December 2008}} the publisher of the Rheinische Post that bought it from French press group Socpresse in 1994.
