Rawlins studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London from 1925 to 1928.{{cite web|url=http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O762969/victoria-embankment-poster-monica-rawlins/|title=Victoria Embankment|website=Victoria and Albert Museum|accessdate=2 September 2020}} She created numerous poster designs for London transport, including for London County Council Tramways, in the 1920s.{{cite web|url=https://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/collections/collections-online/the-collection?q=monica+rawlins|title=The collection|website=www.ltmuseum.co.uk}}{{cite book|author=David Bownes|publisher=london transport museum|year=2018|title=Poster Girls |isbn=978-1-871829-28-0}} A portrait of her daughter, painted in 1946, was part of the exhibition Writing the Century: The View from the Windows.{{cite web|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p036db3f/p036kbdm|title=Writing the Century: The View from the Windows|work=BBC Radio 4|accessdate=8 April 2018}} She died in 1990. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London holds examples of her work.
