The Kennebec and Portland Railroad was laid through the neighborhood in 1847. It was abandoned in 1911.{{Cite web |title=History |url=https://woodfordscorner.org/about-us/history |access-date=2024-01-18 |website=Friends of Woodfords Corner |language=en-US}} The Boston and Maine Railroad also ran through Deering Junction. Morrills Corner is named for brother Rufus and Levi Morrill, who lived there in the early 1800s.
