Maurice 'Moss' O'Brien (born in Ireland) is a retired boxer who represented England.

Boxing career

O'Brien was the National Champion in 1978 after winning the prestigious ABA featherweight title,{{cite web|url=https://www.englandboxing.org/roll-of-honour/gender/male-championships/|title=Roll of Honour|publisher=England Boxing}} the title success was controversial because his opponent Austin Owens was considered by many to have done enough to have won the fight.{{cite news|title=Reading Pair, 15 May 1978|year=1978|newspaper=Reading Evening Post}}

He represented England and won a bronze medal in the -57 kg featherweight division, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada{{cite web|url=https://teamengland.org/commonwealth-games-history/edmonton-1978/athletes|title=1978 Athletes|publisher=Team England}}{{cite web|url=https://thecgf.com/results/athletes/42994|title=Athletes and results|publisher=Commonwealth Games Federation}} and boxed out of West Ham and later Repton (Bethnal Green) ABC.
