Background
Per Jepsen, she was first introduced to OfMan's music via a playlist sent to her by a friend. She "kept pausing at the same track of Lewis's thinking 'this is really good'". She praised OfMan as having one of her "favorite male voices."{{Cite news |last=Richards |first=Will |date=July 16, 2022 |title=Carly Rae Jepsen collaborates with Lewis OfMan on new song "Move Me" |url=https://www.nme.com/news/music/carly-rae-jepsen-collaborates-with-lewis-ofman-on-new-song-move-me-3270600 |access-date=August 10, 2022 |work=NME}} OfMan further explained that he received a call from Jepsen and was "honored that she liked [his] music in such a genuine way."{{Cite news |last=Pappis |first=Konstantinos |date=July 15, 2022 |title=Carly Rae Jepsen and Lewis OfMan Team Up on New Single "Move Me" |url=https://ourculturemag.com/2022/07/15/carly-rae-jepsen-and-lewis-ofman-team-up-on-new-single-move-me/ |access-date=August 10, 2022 |work=Our Culture Mag}}
OfMan was initially inspired to write the song after being struck by an attendee of a party in Florence but feeling both were unable to pursue each other. The day after, OfMan wrote an initial draft of the song and shared it with Jepsen, who "instantly felt the song" and sent over voice recordings and additional ideas for the song.{{Cite news |last=Richards |first=Will |date=July 16, 2022 |title=Carly Rae Jepsen collaborates with Lewis OfMan on new song "Move Me" |url=https://www.nme.com/news/music/carly-rae-jepsen-collaborates-with-lewis-ofman-on-new-song-move-me-3270600 |access-date=August 10, 2022 |work=NME}}{{Cite news |last=DeVille |first=Chris |date=July 15, 2022 |title=Lewis OfMan - "Move Me" (Feat.
