{{Kingdom of Tripura}}

Mukut Manikya was briefly the ruler of Tripura during the late 15th century.

Mukut gained the throne following the brief reigns of Pratap Manikya and Vijaya Manikya I, who were likely his elder brother and paternal nephew respectively.{{cite book|last=Roychoudhury|first=Nalini Ranjan|title=Tripura through the ages: a short history of Tripura from the earliest times to 1947 A.D.|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Mq0dAAAAMAAJ&q=%22Mukut+Manikya+the+younger+brother+of+Pratap+Manikya+I+ascended+the+throne+in+the+year+1489%22&dq=%22Mukut+Manikya+the+younger+brother+of+Pratap+Manikya+I+ascended+the+throne+in+the+year+1489%22|year=1983|publisher=Sterling|page=16}} It is possible that his ascension was ensured through backing of military leaders, whose influence had waxed during the reigns of his immediate predecessors.{{cite book|last=Sarma|first=Ramani Mohan|title=Political History of Tripura|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=bmpuAAAAMAAJ&q=%22It+is+not+unlikely+that+he+got+the+throne+through+the+favour+of.+the+military+chiefs+who+still+dominated+the+political+scene.%22&dq=%22It+is+not+unlikely+that+he+got+the+throne+through+the+favour+of.+the+military+chiefs+who+still+dominated+the+political+scene.%22|page=50|year=1987|publisher=Puthipatra}} Numismatic evidence indicates that this occurred in 1489.{{cite book|last=Sur|first=Hirendra Kumar|title=British Relations with the State of Tripura, 1760-1947|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=XSouAAAAMAAJ&q=%22+It+has+already+been+shown+on+the+basis+of+numismatic+evidence+that+the+very+next+year+i.e+,+1489,+Mukut+Manikya+was+in+power.+%22&dq=%22+It+has+already+been+shown+on+the+basis+of+numismatic+evidence+that+the+very+next+year+i.e+,+1489,+Mukut+Manikya+was+in+power.+%22|year=1986|publisher=Saraswati Book Depot|page=221}}

However, Mukut's own rule was very short, with the coinage produced the very next year (i.e. 1490) instead displaying the name of his brother Dhanya Manikya.{{cite book|last=Gan-Chaudhuri|first=Jagadis|title=Tripura, the land and its people|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=SFFuAAAAMAAJ&q=%22His+reign+lasted+for+a+very+short+time+and+appears+to+have+come+to+an+end+before+1490+because+Dhanya+Manikya+already+issued+a+coin+in+that+year.%22&dq=%22His+reign+lasted+for+a+very+short+time+and+appears+to+have+come+to+an+end+before+1490+because+Dhanya+Manikya+already+issued+a+coin+in+that+year.%22|year=1980|publisher=Leeladevi Publications|page=21}} It may be that he had lost the favour of the chiefs, who subsequently had him overthrown.
