It is located in the Cusco Region, Espinar Province, Alto Pichigua District. It lies near the village of Mullu Q'awa (Molloccahua, Molloqhawa).{{cite web |url=http://www.mincetur.gob.pe/TURISMO/OTROS/inventario%20turistico/Ficha.asp?cod_Ficha=7230|title=Sitio Arqueológico de Molloqhawa|author= |publisher=mincetur|access-date=August 17, 2015}} It is situated on top of the mountain at a height of about {{convert|4000|m|ft|abbr=on}}.

The site was declared a National Cultural Heritage (Patrimonio Cultural) by Resolution No. 954-2010- INC on April 27, 2010.
