Musayelyan ({{langx|hy|Մուսայելյան}}) is a village in the Ashotsk Municipality of the Shirak Province of Armenia. The St. Trdat church built in 1896 is located in the village.{{Cite Republic of Armenia Settlements Dictionary}}

Etymology

The village was previously known as Bozekhush{{Cite Armenia and Imperial Decline}} ({{Langx|az|Bozyokuş}}; {{Langx|ru|Боз-Ехуш}};{{Cite Kavkazskiy Kalendar 1910}} {{Langx|hy|Բոզյոխուշ}}{{Cite The Population of Soviet Armenia}}). The village was later renamed after Bolshevik captain {{Ill|Sargis Musayelyan|hy|Սարգիս Մուսայելյան}}{{Cite web |last=Nişanyan |first=Sevan |author-link=Sevan Nişanyan |title=Musayelyan |url=https://nisanyanmap.com/?yer=66393&haritasi=musayelyan |access-date=8 October 2022 |website=Index Anatolicus |language=tr}} who committed his troops and the armoured train Vardan Zoravar ({{Langx|hy|Վարդան Զորավար|lit=General Vardan}}) to the May Uprising against the Dashnak government of Armenia in Aleksandropol (Gyumri)—He was imprisoned for several months until the Red Army executed two notable Dashnaks in Zangezur, thus prompting his execution in retaliation.{{Cite The Republic of Armenia Volume 3}}
