History

MySocialCloud was co-founded by Scott Ferreira, Stacey Ferreira, and Shiv Prakash in 2011.{{cite web|url=http://www.girlsintechla.org/v1/meet-the-whiz-behind-mysocialcloud-com/|title=Meet The Whiz Behind MySocialCloud.Com|date=October 5, 2012|publisher=Girls in Tech |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130125173201/http://www.girlsintechla.org/v1/meet-the-whiz-behind-mysocialcloud-com/ |archive-date=25 January 2013 |url-status=usurped|accessdate= 22 May 2013 }} The idea for a one-stop password storage and login tool came when a computer crash left Scott without documents he used to store access information to his online data.

In 2013, the siblings sold MySocialCloud to Reputation.com.{{cite news|title=The Deal: Reputation.com Acquires MySocialCloud|url=http://www.thestreet.com/story/11989432/1/reputationcom-acquires-mysocialcloud.html|accessdate=6 March 2016|work=TheStreet.com|date=July 25, 2013}}

Services

MySocialCloud is cloud-based, and the platform lets users securely store passwords and automatically log into several social media websites simultaneously. The website auto-populates password fields, letting the user log into all of the sites at the push of a button.{{cite web|url=http://www.businessinsider.com/my-social-cloud-receives-funding-from-richard-branson-2012-6|title=Richard Branson’s Tweet Scored An 18-Year-Old's Startup $1 Million In Funding|date=June 29, 2012|publisher=Business Insider|author=Andrea Huspeni|accessdate=22 May 2013}}{{cite web |url=https://mysocialcloud.com/#!/aboutus |title=About MySocialCloud.com |website=MySocialCloud |accessdate=22 May 2013}}

The service also provides users with security updates for the websites they have included in their profile, and informs users if a website has been hacked.{{cite web |url=https://mysocialcloud.com/#!/security |title=Security |website=MySocialCloud |accessdate=22 May 2013}} Security played a major role during development of the platform. Passwords stored on the service are salted and hashed with a two-way encryption method known as AES.
