NGC 19 is a spiral galaxy in the Andromeda constellation. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is {{val|4465|23|u=km/s|fmt=commas}}, which corresponds to a Hubble distance of {{convert|65.85 ± 4.62|Mpc|Mly|abbr=on|lk=on|order=flip}}.{{r|ned}} However, 12 non-redshift measurements give a closer distance of {{convert|61.983 ± 2.857|Mpc|Mly|abbr=on|lk=off|order=flip}}.{{cite web | url = https://ned.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nDistance?name=NGC+0019 | title = Distance Results for NGC 0019 | website = NASA/IPAC EXTRAGALACTIC DATABASE | publisher = NASA | access-date = 11 June 2025}} It was discovered by American astronomer Lewis Swift on 20 September 1885.{{cite web | url = https://cseligman.com/text/atlas/ngc0.htm#19 | title = New General Catalogue Objects: NGC{{nbsp}}19 | last = Seligman | first = Courtney | website = Celestial Atlas | access-date = 11 June 2025 }}{{cite journal |bibcode=1886AN....113..305S |title=Catalogue No.2 of Nebulae discovered at the Warner Observatory |author=Swift, Lewis |journal=Astronomische Nachrichten |volume=113 |date=January 1886 |pages=305 |doi=10.1002/asna.18861131903 |url=https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1886AN....113..305S}} It is often incorrectly listed as a duplicate of NGC 21.

NGC 7831 Group

According to A.M. Garcia, NGC 19 is a member of the NGC 7831 group (also known as LGG 1), which contains at least 18 galaxies, including NGC 13, NGC 20, NGC 21, NGC 39 NGC 43, NGC 7805, NGC 7806, NGC 7819, and NGC 7836.{{cite journal | bibcode=1993A&AS..100...47G | title=General study of group membership.
