In the 2021 elections, Suvendu Adhikari of BJP defeated his nearest rival and incumbent chief minister Mamata Banerjee of TMC. At First, Election commison declared Mamata Banerjee won this seat. But, after some moment they changed their decision and declared that Suvendu Adhikary won.
