Nangkita is a rural locality on Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, south of the capital, Adelaide.

Nangkita was founded as a Village Settlement in the 1890s as a commune in a scheme set up by the South Australian government under Part VII of the Crown Lands Amendment Act 1893,{{cite web |url=http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/sa/num_act/cla584o56a57v1893227/ |title=The Crown Lands Amendment Act, 1893 (SA ) |at=Part VII |accessdate=4 October 2015}} intended to mitigate the effects of the depression then affecting the Colony. The settlement grew a magnificent crop of tobacco, but the potato and onion crops were ravaged by grubs.{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article111639832 |title=Nangkita Village Settlement |newspaper=Weekly Herald |volume=IV |issue=175 |location=South Australia |date=12 February 1898 |accessdate=11 August 2017 |page=6 |via=National Library of Australia}} The commune closed not long after that.{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article54551439 |title=Untitled |newspaper=South Australian Register |volume=LXIII |issue=16,079 |location=South Australia |date=26 May 1898 |accessdate=11 August 2017 |page=4 |via=National Library of Australia}}
