Career
{{prose|section|date=April 2025}}
Aspiring to work at Saturday Night Live, Palamides moved to Los Angeles and joined the Upright Citizens Brigade after college. She began voice-over and commercial work. She also took classes on clown performance at the Idiot Workshop and the Lyric Hyperion. Early sketches featured Palamides' characters: fantasizing about eating salad from a man's pants; complaining to the manager of sandwich shop Eggslut as an anthropomorphic egg; and insisting on being literally objectified. Through her classes, variety shows and open mic shows, she began developing longer-form performance from improvisations in unusual outfits.{{cite web |last=Shaw |first=Helen |date=September 3, 2020 |title=Allow Natalie Palamides to Dominate You |url=https://www.vulture.com/2020/09/natalie-palamides-nate-netflix-comedy-special.html |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220903201944/https://www.vulture.com/2020/09/natalie-palamides-nate-netflix-comedy-special.html |archive-date=September 3, 2022 |accessdate=September 3, 2022 |work=Vulture}}
Palamides took the egg costume from her sketch and used it to make her first hour-long show, Laid.
Palamides developed the exaggeratedly masculine character Nate, from her work with the Pig Iron Theatre Company, into an hour-long performance, Nate – A One Man Show.{{cite web|url=https://www.vice.com/en/article/88a8va/natalie-palamides-nate-netflix-special-interview|title=Natalie Palamides Has the Weirdest Comedy Special on Netflix|work=Vice|last=Rodrigues|first=Ashwin|date=December 4, 2020|accessdate=September 3, 2022|archive-date=September 3, 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220903210314/https://www.vice.com/en/article/88a8va/natalie-palamides-nate-netflix-special-interview|url-status=live}} Members of the audience participate, such as by wrestling Nate, with audience consent and sexual consent as themes. After winning the Total Theatre Award at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it was commissioned by Amy Poehler's production company Paper Kite and released on Netflix on December 1, 2020. Critics widely acclaimed Nate for its provocative performance, regarding it as an innovative break with "Netflix's mainstream comedy brand."{{Cite book |last=Symons |first=Alex |url=https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/1349461077 |title=Women Comedians in the Digital Age |date=2023 |publisher=Routledge |isbn=978-1-003-26868-0 |edition=1st |location=Abingdon, Oxon |pages=147 |oclc=1349461077}}
