Nathan Aldis

Nathan Aldis was an early settler of Dedham, Massachusetts who served on that town's Board of Selectmen in 1641, 1642, and 1644.{{sfn|Whitin|1905|p=4}}{{sfn|Worthington|1827|p=79-81}} He served in a variety of other positions in the town and served as a deacon at First Church and Parish in Dedham.{{sfn|Whitin|1905|pp=3-5}} He signed the Dedham Covenant.{{sfn|Whitin|1905|p=4}}
In 1642, John Elderkin sold half of his rights to the mill on Mother Brook to Nathaniel Whiting and the other half to John Allin, Aldis, and John Dwight.{{sfn|Worthington|1900|p=3}}{{sfn|Hanson|1976|p=31}}{{efn|Allin was the minister, Aldis the deacon, and Dwight was Whiting's father-in-law.{{sfn|Hanson|1976|p=53}}}} They operated the mill "in a rather stormy partnership" until 1649 when Whiting became the sole owner.{{sfn|Hanson|1976|p=31}}{{sfn|Worthington|1900|p=3}}
Aldis and his wife Mary were the parents of John Aldis and ancestors of Asa O. Aldis.{{sfn|Whitin|1905|p=6}} His daughter, Mary, married Joshua Fisher. His prosperity diminished in his later years.{{sfn|Whitin|1905|p=5}}
