The Sailing Museum and National Sailing Hall of Fame is a nonprofit educational organization that promotes sailing and racing by recognizing individuals who have contributed to the sport, highlighting sailing's contribution to the American culture; and demonstrating its value as a hands-on tool for teaching math and science. The organization was established in 2005.{{Cite web|date=2018-09-27|title=Door opens wider for Sailing Hall of Fame >> Scuttlebutt Sailing News|url=http://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2018/09/27/door-opens-wider-sailing-hall-fame/|access-date=2020-06-26|website=Scuttlebutt Sailing News|language=en-US}}

Sailing Museum

The Sailing Museum and National Sailing Hall of Fame was originally housed in the Captain Burtis House, located on the City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland.{{Cite web|title=The Sailing Hall of Fame: Why it was important to save the Burtis House {{!}} Annapolis Policy Issues|url=http://www.gilbertrenaut.org/2011/01/23/the-oyster-navy-and-the-sailing-hall-of-fame/|access-date=2020-06-26|language=en-US}} Visitors to the site could participate in on-the-water experiences and learn about sailing history, art and lore.{{cite web|url=https://nshof.org/about-us|title=About|website=nshof.org}}

On 1 May 2019, it was announced that the National Sailing Hall of Fame would move from Annapolis to Newport, Rhode Island.{{Cite web|last=DeButts|first=Jimmy|title=Sailing hall of fame board votes to leave Annapolis, move to Newport, Rhode Island|url=https://www.capitalgazette.com/maryland/annapolis/ac-cn-sailing-hall-of-fame-1017-story.html|access-date=2020-06-26|website=capitalgazette.com}}{{Cite web|last=Flynn|first=Sean|title=National Sailing Hall of Fame chooses Newport|url=https://www.newportri.com/news/20181016/national-sailing-hall-of-fame-chooses-newport|access-date=2020-06-26|website=The Newport Daily News|language=en}}
