The book Nazisploitation!: The Nazi Image in Low-Brow Cinema and Culture described the theme as a small subgenre of horror films.{{cite book|title=Nazisploitation!: The Nazi Image in Low-Brow Cinema and Culture|last1=Magilow|publisher=A&C Black|year=2012|isbn=978-1441183590|page=249}}
