Neighbornode
Neighbornode is a captive portal on a residential Wi-Fi hotspot, containing a message board. It is designed to help neighbors who share an internet connection know each other better.{{cite web|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090115000921/http://www.neighbornode.net/explanation.html|url=http://www.neighbornode.net/explanation.html|archivedate=15 January 2009|publisher=neighbornode.net|title=Neighbornode Explained}}
The message board can only be accessed within range of the hotspot. Individual Neighbornodes can be linked together to create a supernode, vaguely like Fidonet. It is implemented as an alternative firmware for the Linksys WRT54G router.
The project was created by John Geraci of Interactive Telecommunications Program,{{cite web|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20080521155638/http://www.popsci.com/popsci/how20/6bfd37116bb95010vgnvcm1000004eecbccdrcrd.html|url=http://www.popsci.com/popsci/how20/6bfd37116bb95010vgnvcm1000004eecbccdrcrd.html|archivedate=21 May 2008|publisher=Popular Science|title=Free Neighborhood Wi-Fi|date=4 August 2005}}{{cite news|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/21/technology/circuits/21spot.html|title=Where Good Wi-Fi Makes Good Neighbors|work=New York Times|date=21 October 2004|accessdate=18 November 2014}} who also created Grafedia.
