History

The inaugural tournament in 2023 was won by South African Dylan Mostert after he birdied the final hole to seal a one-stroke victory over compatriot Jaco Prinsloo.{{cite news |title=Mostert wins Nelson Mandela Bay Championship on Challenge Tour |url=https://gulfnews.com/sport/golf-in-uae/world/mostert-wins-nelson-mandela-bay-championship-on-challenge-tour-1.94117601 |access-date=12 February 2024 |work=Gulf News |date=27 February 2023}}

The event returned as a co-sanctioned Sunshine Tour and Challenge Tour event in 2024; being retitled as the NMB Championship. The tournament was won by Björn Åkesson, after being shortened to 54 holes due to strong winds.{{cite magazine |url=https://www.compleatgolfer.com/sunshine-tour/akesson-wins-54-hole-nmb-championship/ |title=Åkesson wins 54-hole NMB Championship |magazine=Compleat Golfer |date=25 February 2024 |access-date=27 February 2024}}
