Neoxolmis is a genus of South American birds in the tyrant flycatcher family Tyrannidae.
Taxonomy
The genus Neoxolmis was introduced in 1927 by the Austrian ornithologist Carl Eduard Hellmayr with the chocolate-vented tyrant as the type species.{{ cite book | last=Hellmayr | first=Carl Eduard | author-link=Carl Eduard Hellmayr | year=1927 | title=Catalogue of Birds of the Americas and the Adjacent Islands in Field Museum of Natural History | series=Field Museum Natural History Publication 242. This genus formerly contained only the chocolate-vented tyrant. Following the publication of a molecular phylogenetic study in 2020, three species were moved from the genus Xolmis to Neoxolmis.{{Cite journal | last1=Chesser | first1=R.T. | last2=Harvey | first2=M.H. | last3=Brumfield | first3=R.T. | last4=Derryberry | first4=E.P. | date=2020 | title=A revised classification of the Xolmiini (Aves: Tyrannidae: Fluvicolinae), including a new genus for Muscisaxicola fluviatilis | journal=Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington | volume=133 | issue=1 | pages=35–48 | doi=10.2988/20-00005 | s2cid=229241271 }}{{ cite web | last1=Areta | first1=Nacho | last2=Pearman | first2=Mark | date=September 2020 | title=Proposal 885: Revise the generic classification of the Xolmiini | publisher=South American Classification Committee, American Ornithologists' Union | url=http://www.museum.lsu.edu/~Remsen/SACCprop885.htm | access-date=26 July 2021}}{{cite web| editor1-last=Gill | editor1-first=Frank | editor1-link=Frank Gill (ornithologist) | editor2-last=Donsker | editor2-first=David | editor3-last=Rasmussen | editor3-first=Pamela | editor3-link=Pamela Rasmussen | date=July 2021 | title=Tyrant flycatchers | work=IOC World Bird List Version 11.2 | url=https://www.worldbirdnames.org/bow/flycatchers/ | publisher=International Ornithologists' Union | accessdate=26 July 2021 }}
