Nero and Zero was a comic strip originally in the boys' story paper The Wizard, published by DC Thomson.{{cite book | title=The History of the Beano|publisher=D.C. Thomson & Co. Ltd.|location=Dundee, Scotland |year=2008 |pages= 12|isbn=978-1-902407-73-9}} This strip started on 1 November 1930 {{Cite web|url=http://www.topper-universe.co.uk/buzz/neroandzero.php|title=Nero And Zero from Buzz Comic|website=www.topper-universe.co.uk}} and was originally drawn by Allan Morley.{{Cite web|url=http://www.paulmorris.co.uk/beano/artists/morley.htm|title=Beano Artists|website=www.paulmorris.co.uk}} The strip featured the subtitle the "Rollicking Romans" and featured two bumbling Roman guards called Nero and Zero who guarded Caesar. The strip was later resurrected for the Buzz comic and the pair featured in the first issue. This strip was drawn by Tom Bannister and lasted until issue 40.
It also appeared in The Sunday Post for several years.
