Most of this site is a narrow valley with a fast-flowing stream with alder carr and fen. This flows into the Bucklesham Mill River{{cite web |title=Bucklesham Mill River {{!}} Catchment Data Explorer {{!}} Catchment Data Explorer |url=https://environment.data.gov.uk/catchment-planning/WaterBody/GB105035040280 |website=environment.data.gov.uk |publisher=DEFRA |access-date=3 April 2024}} which then flows into Deben Estuary. Drier and more acidic soils have grassland, woodland, scrub and bracken heath. There is access from Woodbridge Road, which goes through the site.
