He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles, and Chicago White Sox. Maton played college baseball at Eastern Illinois University and Lincoln Land Community College. He was selected by the Phillies in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB draft, and made his MLB debut with them in 2021.
Early life and amateur career
