Nickel Plate Road 757 is a S-2 class 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio for the Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, commonly referred to as the "Nickel Plate Road".{{Harvp|Chappell|1991|p=143}}

History

Nickel Plate Road 757 was built on August 18, 1944, by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio and it arrived on the Nickel Plate Road that same year in 1944.

It was one of 30 class S-2 steam locomotives built for high-speed freight service on the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, also known as the Nickel Plate Road (NKP).

The locomotive made its last run in service on June 15, 1958 and was retired from the NKP.{{Cite web |title=Nickel Plate 765 back in Bellevue |url=https://sanduskyregister.com/news/345538/nickel-plate-765-back-in-bellevue/ |access-date=2023-10-17 |website=sanduskyregister.com |language=en}} In 1960, it was donated to the city of Bellevue, Ohio, who were unable to raise funds to build a display site for No. 757 and instead sent the locomotive to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Pennsylvania during 1966.{{Harvp|Cupper|2002|p=26}}

It was currently one of six NKP Berkshires preserved. In 2019, No. 757 was brought back to Bellevue, where it was cosmetically restored at the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum. In September 2021, No. 757 was reunited with its operational sister locomotive No. 765 for the Berkshires in Bellevue event.{{Cite web |date=Jul 20, 2021 |title=Nickel Plate Berkshires to be Reunited in Ohio |url=https://www.railfan.com/nickel-plate-berkshires-to-be-reunited-in-ohio |access-date=Jul 20, 2021 |website=Railfan & Railroad}}
