The Nissan P engine is a large overhead valve, inline-six engine manufactured by Nissan from 1959 to 2003 and used in light-duty trucks by Nissan, as well as in the Nissan Patrol. It replaced Nissan's older sidevalve engines with which it shared its dimensions.{{Cite book |ref = KO07 |last = Ozeki |first = Kazuo |script-title = ja:日本のトラック・バス 1918~1972 |trans-title=Japanese Trucks and Buses 1918-1972 |publisher = Miki Press |year = 2007 |location = Tokyo |language = ja |isbn = 978-4-89522-494-9}}{{rp|page=84}} This series of engines were based on the pre-war Type A engine, which was a license built Graham-Paige design.

NAK

Introduced in 1950, the NAK is a {{cvt|3670|cc|L|1|order=flip}} petrol inline-six engine which produces {{cvt|75|hp|kW PS|0}}. This was directly derived from Nissan's pre-war A engine, a license-built Graham-Paige unit.

NB

Introduced in 1953, the NB is a {{cvt|3670|cc|L|1|order=flip}} petrol inline-six engine which produces {{cvt|95|hp|kW PS|0}}.

Applications:

  • 1953-1954 Nissan 480
  • 1953-1954 Nissan 490 Bus
  • 1955 Nissan Patrol 4W61

NC

Introduced in 1955, this is a {{cvt|3956|cc|L|1|order=flip}}, sidevalve petrol inline-six which produces {{cvt|105|PS|kW hp|0}} at 3,400 rpm. Bore and stroke are {{cvt|85.7x114.3|mm|2}}. It was used in various buses and trucks as well as in early Nissan Patrols.{{rp|page=84}}

Applications:

  • 1955-1959 Nissan 482 Truck{{rp|page=112}}

P

The P is a gasoline-powered, overhead valve {{cvt|3956|cc|L|1|order=flip}} inline-six{{rp|page=84}} with {{cvt|125|PS|kW hp|0}} at 3,400 rpm initially. Bore and stroke are {{cvt|85.7x114.3|mm|2}}.{{rp|page=84}} Later with {{cvt|135|PS|kW hp|0}}, further modifications in 1965 increased the power to {{cvt|145|PS|kW hp|0}}. Later variants were called P40, reflecting the engine displacement in liters (4.0). A variant especially for fire-fighting duties, with a stronger alternator, an engine block heater, and various other improvements, was called the PF engine.
