Criticism

The Nokia X was heavily criticized for not having a home button;[http://www.bgr.in/manufacturers/nokia/exclusive-next-gen-nokia-x-series-smartphones-to-get-a-dedicated-home-button/ Exclusive: Next-gen Nokia X series smartphones to get a dedicated home button | Latest Tech News, Video & Photo Reviews at BGR India] this was later addressed with the Nokia X2.

Aftermath

In an interview with Forbes, former HMD Global CEO Arto Nummela stated that analysis showed that the Nokia X series became surprisingly popular with users of high end Samsung and Apple smartphone devices, despite the fact that it was a mid to low end device family.{{Cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/ewanspence/2016/12/04/hmd-nokia-smartphone-android-google-play/#56cf97897a91|title=Finland's Impossible Dream is Happening: Meeting the Startup Behind Nokia's Smartphone Return|website=Forbes}}
