Critical reception

Larry Flick from Billboard declared the song as a "melodramatic power ballad", noting that its "booming production values and a tearful vocal will push all the right buttons".{{cite magazine|first=Larry|last=Flick|url=https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Billboard/90s/1992/Billboard-1992-08-15.pdf|title=Single Reviews|magazine=Billboard|date=15 August 1992|access-date=12 February 2020|page=82|author-link=Larry Flick}} Randy Clark from Cashbox felt it is "full of Celine's brilliant power, and sounds like it might be another AC success."{{cite magazine|first=Randy|last=Clark|title= Music Reviews: Singles |magazine= Cashbox |date= 25 July 1992 |page= 5 |access-date= 1 November 2020 |url= https://worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Music/Cash-Box/90s/1992/CB-1992-07-25.pdf}} Rufer and Fell from the Gavin Report commented, "A Diane Warren song sung by Ms. Dion's velvet hammer voice. An unbeatable combination does it again".{{cite magazine|first1= Diane |last1= Rufer |first2= Ron |last2= Fell |title= A/C: Reviews |magazine= Gavin Report |date= 10 July 1992 |page= 22 |access-date= 17 October 2020 |url= https://worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Music/Gavin-Report/90/92/Gavin-1992-07-10.pdf}} In a retrospective review, Christopher Smith of Talk About Pop Music stated that it "throws everything possible in, some electric guitars, Celine’s soaring vocals and a beautiful, long fade out".{{cite web|author=Smith, Christopher|url=https://talkaboutpopmusic.com/2019/10/19/review-celine-dion-1992/|title=Review: 'Celine Dion' 1992|publisher=Talk About Pop Music|date=19 October 2019|access-date=7 April 2020}}
