Nothoapis is a genus in the soft-bodied tick family, Argasidae. It is very similar to those of the genus Antricola. The genus's origin is Nothoaspis reddelli, which is the only tick species with a false shield on the anterior half of its body, propagating both a new genus and a new species.{{Cite journal|last=Keirans|first=James E.|last2=Clifford|first2=Carleton M.|date=1975-01-15|title=Nothoaspis reddelli, New Genus and New Species (Ixodoidea: Argasidae), from a Bat Cave in Mexico|journal=Annals of the Entomological Society of America|language=en|volume=68|issue=1|pages=81–85|doi=10.1093/aesa/68.1.81|issn=0013-8746}}
