Novovoronezh ({{langx|ru|Нововоро́неж}}) is a town in Voronezh Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Don River {{convert|55|km|sp=us}} south of Voronezh. Population: {{ru-census|p2021=30658|p2010=32,635|p2002=36,961|p1989=35,666}}
Administrative and municipal status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, it is incorporated as Novovoronezh Urban Okrug—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.Law #87-OZ As a municipal division, this administrative unit also has urban okrug status.Law #88-OZ

History
Novovoronezh was established along with the start of the future nuclear power plant construction works in 1957.{{Cite web|url=http://new-voronezh.ru/its/o-gorodskom-okruge|title=About City District|website=Novovoronezh Town Official Website}} It was then called the urban settlement of Novo-Graessovsky, but renamed its current name later the same year.
The first unit of 210 MW of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant was put into power on September 30, 1964.
From 1959 to 1963 Novovoronezh was the center of the Novovoronezh district, and its administrative status was upgraded from the urban settlement to a town in 1987.{{Cite web|url=http://www.novovoronezh.ru/index.php?pid=1|title=О городе|website=www.novovoronezh.ru|language=en|access-date=2018-07-06}}
In 2020, an ambiguous monument was erected in the city to the legendary founder of the city Alyonka, who, according to legend, found a good place and brought her fellow villagers there. Thanks to this monument, Novovoronezh became famous throughout Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The forged sculptural composition, which cost the city a million rubles and caused negative feedback{{Cite web|url=https://www.rbth.com/lifestyle/333199-scary-monument-to-russian-fairy|title=Meet the SCARY statue of the Russian fairy tale character, Alyonka|website=www.rbth.com|date=2020-12-25|access-date=}} from citizens, was dismantled three days after installation and later sold at auction for 2.6 million rubles. with a starting price of 1 million rubles.
