Archaeology
Copper trade originating in the eastern Mediterranean in the Bronze Age kingdom of Alashiya (probably Cyprus) reached as far west as Sardinia, where five typical oxhide ingots were first turned up by a plough in 1857, at the foot of a demolished nuraghe called Serra Ilixi by locals.{{cite book |author= Lo Schiavo, Fulvia | title= The Western Mediterranean before the Etruscans |pages=202–203 |editor= Jean MacIntosh Turfa |editor1-link=Jean MacIntosh Turfa| work= The Etruscan World | publisher= Routledge |series= Routledge Worlds | year= 2017 |edition=1 |url= https://books.google.com/books?id=2Ofa_0Y5Iu8C&pg=PA203 | isbn= 9781138060357 | access-date= 18 July 2018}} The find was published by Luigi Pigorini in 1904.
