Controversies
In 2016, former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva registered four complaints that became inquiries at the 17th Ipiranga Police Station, in São Paulo. Among the requests is the investigation of alleged crimes committed by journalists from O Antagonista and Veja magazine.{{Cite web|title=Lula pede investigação contra jornalistas da "Veja" e do site O Antagonista|url=https://portalimprensa.com.br:443/noticias/brasil/76536/lula+pede+investigacao+contra+jornalistas+da+veja+e+do+site+o+antagonista|access-date=2021-04-18|website=Portal IMPRENSA - Notícias, Jornalismo, Comunicação|language=en}} Lula's defense said that "websites appear to exist only to attack the honor and image of the ex-president".{{Cite web|title=Lula pede investigação de jornalistas e criador do Pixuleko - 22/03/2016 - Poder|url=http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/poder/2016/03/1752603-lula-pede-investigacao-contra-jornalistas-e-mentor-do-pixuleco.shtml|access-date=2021-04-18|website=Folha de S.Paulo}}
In April 2017, journalist Paulo Henrique Amorim published on his blog Conversa Afiada a dialogue that took place when Marcelo Odebrecht was turning state's evidence. In the dialogue, Marcelo's lawyer reports to judge Sergio Moro that O Antagonista would be broadcasting a livestream of the testimony on his website. This, according to him, would undermine the private condition of the procedure determined by Moro.
On April 15, 2019, Minister of the Supreme Federal Court Alexandre de Moraes ordered that a report made by O Antagonista and Revista Crusoé referring to a supposed relationship between Dias Toffoli and Marcelo Odebrecht be removed under penalty of daily fine, if not removed, of 100 thousand reais.{{Cite web|title=STF censura sites e manda retirar matéria que liga Toffoli à Odebrecht|url=https://g1.globo.com/politica/noticia/2019/04/15/stf-censura-sites-e-e-manda-retirar-materia-que-liga-toffoli-a-odebrecht.ghtml|access-date=2021-04-18|website=G1|language=pt-br}} The decision to censor the magazine's content caused criticism by organs that defend freedom of the press and expression, such as the National Association of Newspapers (ANJ), the National Association of Magazine Editors (ANER), the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism ( ABRAJI) the Brazilian Press Association (ABI) and Transparency International.{{Cite web|title=Entidades de imprensa criticam censura do STF a reportagem sobre Toffoli|url=https://www1.folha.uol.com.br/poder/2019/04/entidades-de-imprensa-criticam-censura-do-stf-a-reportagem-sobre-toffoli.shtml}} The Association of Federal Judges of Brazil (AJUFE) also repudiated the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, which they considered "inadmissible".{{Cite web|date=2020-04-30|title="Inadmissível", diz Ajufe sobre ataques a Alexandre de Moraes|url=https://www.oantagonista.com/brasil/inadmissivel-diz-ajufe-sobre-ataques-a-alexandre-de-moraes/|access-date=2021-04-18|website=O Antagonista|language=pt-BR}} Later, Alexandre de Moraes reversed his decision and revoked his own act. {{Cite web|title=Alexandre de Moraes revoga decisão que censurou reportagens de 'Crusoé' e 'O Antagonista'|url=https://g1.globo.com/politica/noticia/2019/04/18/alexandre-de-moraes-revoga-decisao-que-censurou-reportagens-de-crusoe-e-antagonista.ghtml|access-date=2021-04-18|website=G1|language=pt-br}}
