The Oakbank Hospital was a health facility in Possil Road, Glasgow, Scotland.
History
Oakbank was originally a Poor Law hospital, commissioned by the Glasgow Parish Council. The facility, which was designed by Alex Cullen, opened as the Western District Hospital in September 1904, on the same day as Stobhill Hospital in Springburn and the Eastern District Hospital at Duke Street.{{cite web|url=https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/search/archives/5451d88e-18a9-3fb2-89ff-b6b4b9136054|title=Records of Western District Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland|publisher=Archives Hub|accessdate=2 February 2020}} It joined the National Health Service in 1948{{cite web|url=https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=850&page=43|title=Oakbank Hospital, Glasgow|publisher=National Archives|accessdate=2 February 2020}} and closed in 1965.{{cite web|url=https://historic-hospitals.com/gazetteer/glasgow/|title=Oakbank Hospital|publisher=Historic Hospitals|accessdate=2 February 2020}} The buildings were subsequently used as a temporary facility for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children during reconstruction in the late 1960s and have since been demolished.
Notable staff
