Oiceoptoma thoracicum, the red-breasted carrion beetle, is a species of carrion beetle in the family Silphidae. It is found in the Palearctic. As a carrion beetle, this species is a generalist that can have importance in forensic entomology. Larval survival to adulthood occurs most often if the beetles are fed pork compared to beef or chicken. {{cite journal | last=Qubaiová | first=Jarin | last2=Jakubec | first2=Pavel | last3=Montoya-Molina | first3=Santiago | last4=Novák | first4=Martin | last5=Šuláková | first5=Hana | title=Diet Impact on the Development and Survival of Oiceoptoma thoracicum (Coleoptera: Silphidae) | journal=Journal of Medical Entomology | publisher=Oxford University Press (OUP) | volume=59 | issue=6 | date=2022-09-08 | issn=0022-2585 | doi=10.1093/jme/tjac129 | pages=1905–1910| pmc=9667723 }}
