The Omar Mosque and Islamic Center of Costa Rica ({{langx|es|Mezquita de Omar y el Centro Cultural Musulmán de Costa Rica}}) is a mosque in San José, Costa Rica.

History

The construction of the mosque originated from a Palestinian migrant to the country. In early 1990s, he and other 14 people gathered at his house where they decided to build a mosque. They also traveled to Panama to ask to the local community there for financial support.{{cite web|last=Rosch|first=Carla|date=21 January 2022|url=https://english.alaraby.co.uk/features/small-and-little-known-muslim-community-costa-rica|title=Discovering the small and little known Muslim community in Costa Rica|website=The New Arab|access-date=27 January 2022}} The mosque was finally built and completed in 2002.{{cite web|url=https://thecostaricanews.com/churches-of-san-jose-years-of-history-and-culture/|title=Churches of San José: Years of History and Culture|website=The Costa Rica News|access-date=9 July 2021}}{{cite news|last=J.|first=Arnoldo Rivera|date=1 February 2015|url=https://www.nacion.com/el-mundo/el-islam-en-la-tierra-del-gallo-pinto/V4G7UQ2VVRCJVLDRQTO7C7V56E/story/|title=El islam en la tierra del gallo pinto|publisher=La Nación|access-date=9 July 2021|language=es|trans-title=Islam in the Land of the Gallo Pinto}}
