Oniticellini are a tribe of scarab beetles, in the true dung beetle subfamily (Scarabaeinae).{{cite journal|last1=Philips|first1=T. Keith|title=Phylogeny of the Oniticellini and Onthophagini dung beetles (Scarabaeidae, Scarabaeinae) from morphological evidence|journal=ZooKeys|date=2016|issue=579|pages=9–57|doi=10.3897/zookeys.579.6183|url=https://zookeys.pensoft.net/articles.php?id=6183|accessdate=22 November 2016|pmc=4829968|pmid=27110200|doi-access=free}} Nearly all species of this tribe feed on and nest in dung, mainly that of large herbivores. Most are tunnelers; dung is buried at the ends of tunnels dug below a dropping, and used as food by both adults and larvae; others, known as dwellers (including Oniticellus and Tragiscus) make brood cavities within or just beneath the dung.

Taxonomy

The Oniticellini have been divided into three subtribes: Drepanocerina, Helictopleurina and Oniticellina, but this arrangement is still under review.
