In the current version, it includes an eNodeB with a built-in simple Evolved Packet Core, and some tools for scanning and recording LTE signals based on GNU Radio.[http://openlte.sourceforge.net OpenLTE] [https://github.com/neo4reo/OpenLTE OpenLTE GH]

OpenLTE is used extensively in a variety of projects, from deployment of custom built 4G cellular networks, evaluating dynamic spectrum sharing for 5G NR and 4G LTE Coexistence to penetration testing of existing telecom networks.[https://spectrum.ieee.org/softwaredefined-radio-will-let-communities-build-their-own-4g-networks Software-Defined Radio Lets Communities Build Their Own 4G Networks] [https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/10/low-cost-imsi-catcher-for-4glte-networks-track-phones-precise-locations/ Low-cost IMSI catcher for 4G/LTE networks tracks phones’ precise locations]
