History

=The Shuler Press years=

Arthur Silverton established Overfinch Bespoke Vehicles in 1975, in Farnham, Surrey under the name Shuler Presses. Initially, Silverton fixed what he perceived as imperfections inherent in the Land Rover's design. Silverton experimented with swapping the vehicle's Rover Engine for 4.4 V8 engines, a Jaguar V12 before settling on General Motors' 5.7 GM V8. Improvements were made to the vehicle's handling and Silverton installed a Ferguson FF anti-skid brake system. He also modified the interior to include pile carpets, leather upholstery and air conditioning.{{Cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilwinton/2018/09/06/overfinch-will-add-character-to-your-range-rover-inside-and-out/#5ecd8cee4402|title = Overfinch Will Add Character to Your Range Rover, Inside and Out| website=Forbes }} Silverton changed the company name to Overfinch in 1985 and positioned the company as the de facto post-production modifier of Range Rovers.{{Cite web|url=http://www.bishopsheritage.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/091_LRM_SEPT14_OVERFINCH.pdf|title=Origin of the Species|last=Cusick|first=Alisdair}}

In November 2010, the company was placed into administration, under the control of administrators Wilson Field, who said the business had incurred significant one-off non-trading costs which hit cash flow.{{Cite magazine |title=Range Rover tuner Overfinch goes bust |url=http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/range-rover/34401/range-rover-tuner-overfinch-goes-bust | magazine=Auto Express |date=16 November 2010 |access-date=25 November 2010}}{{cite web |title=Overfinch In Administration |url=http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=22778 |website=Pistonheads |date=16 November 2010 | access-date=16 November 2010}} Autobrokers Ltd of Leeds, who had been the company's largest retailer, using the name Overfinch Leeds, acquired the business and assets.{{cite magazine |url=https://www.motortrader.com/motor-trader-news/automotive-news/overfinch-bought-out-of-administration-17-12-2010 |title=Overfinch bought out of administration |first=Curtis |last=Hutchinson |date=17 December 2010 |magazine=Motor Trader |access-date=14 February 2011}}

Throughout the 2010s other luxury car makers such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Lamborghini entered the luxury SUV market. Overfinch competed with these brands by positioning itself as an exclusive luxury alternative. Under their new CEO, Kevin Sloane, the decade saw the company enter the U.S. SUV market.{{Cite web|url=https://robbreport.com/motors/cars/overfinch-modifies-range-rovers-2844095/|title=Custom Specialist Overfinch Finesses Range Rovers to $255,000|last=Wasef|first=Basem|date=2019-03-14|website=Robb Report|language=en|access-date=2019-12-18}}
