The tiny settlement of Pūponga in New Zealand is the northernmost settlement in the South Island.{{cite web |title=Puponga, Tasman – NZ Topo Map|url= http://www.topomap.co.nz/NZTopoMap/nz44621/Puponga/Tasman |website=NZ Topo Map|publisher=Land Information New Zealand|accessdate=2017-10-12}} It is in the Tasman District, {{convert|18|km|mi}} north of Collingwood, at the foot of Farewell Spit. The spit's airstrip, Triangle Flat Airstrip is just northeast of Pūponga. The settlement of Pūponga is inland; the settlement located on the coast is called Port Pūponga.{{LINZ|id=36591|name=Port Pūponga|access-date=10 May 2021}}

Just to the northeast of the village, a car park at a cafe is the starting point for tours of Farewell Spit.
