P2Y purinoceptor 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the P2RY2 gene.{{cite journal | vauthors = Parr CE, Sullivan DM, Paradiso AM, Lazarowski ER, Burch LH, Olsen JC, Erb L, Weisman GA, Boucher RC, Turner JT | title = Cloning and expression of a human P2U nucleotide receptor, a target for cystic fibrosis pharmacotherapy | journal = Proc Natl Acad Sci USA | volume = 91 | issue = 8 | pages = 3275–9 |date=May 1994 | pmid = 8159738 | pmc = 43559 | doi =10.1073/pnas.91.8.3275 | bibcode = 1994PNAS...91.3275P | doi-access = free }}{{cite journal | vauthors = Somers GR, Hammet F, Woollatt E, Richards RI, Southey MC, Venter DJ | title = Chromosomal localization of the human P2y6 purinoceptor gene and phylogenetic analysis of the P2y purinoceptor family | journal = Genomics | volume = 44 | issue = 1 | pages = 127–30 |date=Nov 1997 | pmid = 9286708 | doi = 10.1006/geno.1997.4841 }}

The product of this gene, P2Y2 belongs to the family of G-protein coupled receptors. This family has several receptor subtypes with different pharmacological selectivity, which overlaps in some cases, for various adenosine and uridine nucleotides. This receptor is responsive to both adenosine and uridine nucleotides. It may participate in control of the cell cycle of endometrial carcinoma cells. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene.{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: P2RY2 purinergic receptor P2Y, G-protein coupled, 2| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=5029}}
