Formation
The company was founded in 1996 by Thomas Prefi, Christoph Theis and Thomas Weingarten as a spin-off company of the {{ill|Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology|de|Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnologie}} (IPT) in Aachen, Germany. The founding resulted from the successful development of a quality management concept for the former Daimler-Benz.
