PEN Award for Poetry in Translation

The PEN Award for Poetry in Translation is given by PEN America (formerly PEN American Center) to honor a poetry translation published in the preceding year. The award should not be confused with the PEN Translation Prize. The award is one of many PEN awards sponsored by International PEN in over 145 PEN centers around the world. The PEN American Center awards have been characterized as being among the "major" American literary prizes.{{cite book |chapter-url=https://books.google.com/books?id=LyJqIfNPSgcC&pg=PA689 |title=The Continuum Encyclopedia of American Literature |chapter=Literary Prizes and Awards |publisher=Continuum International Publishing Group |author=Alfred Bendixen |year=2005 |page=689 |isbn=9780826417770 |access-date=2023-02-24 |archive-date=2023-02-24 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230224194004/https://books.google.com/books?id=LyJqIfNPSgcC&pg=PA689 |url-status=live }} The award was called one of "the most prominent translation awards."{{cite book |author=Robert Wechsler |title=Performing Without a Stage: The Art of Literary Translation |chapter-url=https://books.google.com/books?id=EBEQEJt7pm8C&pg=PA279 |publisher=Catbird Press |year=1998 |chapter=Performing Without a Stage |pages=278–279|isbn=9780945774389 }}
